"Heh, I wonder who I can go to war with next…" Contan said, smirking greatly as she looked over her world map.

"Why do you want to go to war so badly, Contan? Most people try to avoid it." Japan said looking at the girl sitting next to him.

"I don't know if it's me loving war as much as it is, just having an odd obsession with it." The girl said, her ruby eyes flashing mischievously at Japan.

Japan seemed puzzled by her behavior despite her explanation. Oddly enough, despite the fact that he really didn't have much in common with the girl, they were still friends. Perhaps it was because she lived so near to his country.

The island of Contan; that was her land. Japan honestly felt bad for her, it was a no name place; a location nobody knew of. Like Sealand amost…no. It was more like Canada. Her country was sizable enough; it just went unnoticed.

The more Japan thought about it; the more he saw how similar her situation was to Canada's. Her country was just outside of his, and he was a well-known country…so why did nobody really know of hers? Canada was right above the ever popular America, yet nobody paid him notice.

The one difference she had from Canada, that Japan instantly recognized, was that in the world conferences, she always made a point to be in the middle of everything. She was noticed by everyone there and many of the countries even had feelings for her. It was just the world's lack of knowledge of her, not that she was unpopular.

"Contan, have you noticed Lithuania's interactions with you lately?" Germany asked.

Contan looked up from map and gave Germany a quizzical look. "He's friendly as usual." She stated, shrugging. "Why? Is there something special about it?"

Germany made a slightly irritated groan. "Never mind." He said, working on some papers.

Germany had officially given up. Why bother? It was rather obvious that she was never going to get it. Contan had always been totally oblivious to any of the countries having feelings for her. She merely saw any of their "friendly" interactions as simple gestures of kindness or affection. She was so oblivious in fact, that at one time when Lithuania rushed in with a box of chocolates and a bundle of flowers, she simply thanked him happily, jumped up and down, and moved on….not realizing just what the entire thing was about. The box of chocolates even came with a note that said "I love you" in bold letters….

"So Contan, you're not serious about going to war are you? Your obsession with planning for this is starting to worry me." Japan said, looking slightly nervous.

She growled and furrowed her brows. Japan and Germany both knew that look, and their faces saddened a bit as her fists clenched.

"I'd love to go to war with that bastard England." She spat, with venom in her voice. "I've picked up this accent from him too…bastard." She continued, her British accent coming out even more as her anger grew.

"But England is too powerful right now and—"

Germany couldn't finish his sentence when Contan slammed her fist down on the table. Her blonde bangs hid her ruby orbs as she hung her head…then suddenly…

"Ice cream!" she shouted, punching her fist in the air with a huge smile.

Both Germany and Japan sweatdropped at her random behavior.

"But Contan…weren't you planning for war?" Japan asked.

"Pssh! I can do that LATER! I was getting bored just sitting around here anyway! You know how I can't sit still dude! Yahoo! I'm outta here guys!" she shouted, jumping up and down before rushing outside.

"That Contan Slain…." Japan sighed.

"Will never grow up." Germany finished, shaking his head.

In the meantime, Contan ran down the streets, happy to be out of her chair and out to do something fun. As she ran, her long blonde hair bounced and the orange tints throughout it glowed in the sun's light.

"Ice creaaaaaam!" she shouted.

People on the streets looked at the girl as if she was mad, but she couldn't care less. Screw them. As long as she was having fun, she didn't care what anyone else thought.

She finally began to slow down as she neared her favorite ice cream shop. "Maybe I can get a new pair of jeans today." She said out loud, looking down at her torn and tattered pair. "I like them like this, but they're on their way out…" she sighed.

She closed her eyes and groaned; she really hated England but she needed to keep her cool….

"Hey Contan!!!" a familiar, enthusiastic voice called.

Contan's eyes immediately shot open and she beamed. "Hey Alfred! What are you doing here dude?!" she said laughing and giving him a hug….she didn't notice the blush that crept onto the blonde's face.

"What do you think I'm doing here?" he asked, raising a brow. "I'm getting some ice cream!" he said, giving her a thumbs up.

"Ice cream?! Dude, we should totally get some together!" she laughed, taking his hand and pulling him along.

One again…Contan missed his blushing cheeks.

Once they got to the stand, Contan tapped on the front desk to get the employees attention.

"Hello! Welcome to—…" the ice cream man's eyes widened in horror. "Um…h-hello Contan…Alfred…" he said with a nervous smile, before gulping.

This guy was scared shitless. He knew….he knew…oh man did he know…those two were going to clean out the shop. When America and Contan went to get ice cream together, it wasn't a treat…it was pure dairy carnage.

"Wh-what can I get for you today?" he asked.

"I want a cone with ten scoops." She said smirking. "And I want them in this order, from top to bottom: chocolate, coffee, vanilla, strawberry, mint chocolate chip, cookie dough, rocky road, cheesecake, caramel, and brownie batter." She said, making the man behind the counter look nauseated.

"Um…ok…" he said. "And you sir?" he asked.

"Dude! You should totally make me the same thing!" he laughed.

After a few minutes, the man came back looking exhausted and nervous, hoping he had gotten everything right.

"Way to go Sam! You got it right!" Contan said, giving him a thumbs up and walking off with America.

The man behind the counter waited until they were out of sight and then slammed the doors shut and put up the "closed" sign, knowing that if he didn't, they would be back for more.

America and Contan were walking along, laughing before finally settling down on a bench. Somehow, despite them being the two most energetic people around, there was a moment of silence…and in that silence, Contan noticed a face on America that she hadn't seen before.

"Hey Alfred, what's up?" she asked.

"Oh, well…umm…." He said, becoming very nervous.

Contan was smiling as she waited for an answer, but soon she frowned when he began to look painfully anxious.

"What's wrong Alfred?" she asked, scooting closer to him.

Sure because of her obsession with war and planning, she had a difficult time being nurturing…but this was Alfred; her best friend.

"Alfred, if England is fucking around with you, you can tell me! That bastard and I are going to go to war someday anyway…" she growled.

"Contan!" Alfred shouted, taking both of her hands in his; the two gasped. "S-sorry." He said, pulling his hands away.

Contan put a hand to her chest; her heart had just skipped a few beats…why? It must have been because she just wasn't expecting it.

"Contan…don't go to war with England…ok? We've talked about this…" he said softly.

"We grew up together Alfred. We were both raised by England….and yet….during the Revolutionary War…you didn't let me help you!" she growled.

"It was to keep you safe." America sighed. "It was my battle." He finished.

"I only wanted to help! I hate England for all the pain he caused you…I won't forgive him for all of those things…" she said, taking America's hand. "Ok?"

She was surprised when America withdrew his hand. "Contan…I really do have something to say…" he said.

"Yeah? Well go on with it man. You know you can tell me anything. I'm your best friend." She said smiling.

America felt his heart tear when she said those words… "Contan…we can't hang out anymore."

Contan looked stunned before shaking her head. "What?" she asked, thinking she must have heard him wrong.

"We can't see each other anymore…well maybe just not as much." He said, his blue eyes darting around nervously.

"Alfred." Contan laughed, trying to sound amused…but she ended up sounding nervous. "You're a funny guy but this isn't a funny thing to say."

"Contan, I'm being serious." He sighed. "I…do you remember that girl Katrina?" he asked.

Katrina? Yeah of course she remembered. She had met her once…that girl definitely had a thing for America. Contan could see that right away by the way she interacted with America.

"What about her?" Contan asked.

"Well...we've been dating for about a week." America finished.

Contan's eyes widened and for some reason she felt her heart skip a beat, her chest tighten, and her stomach turn…and her blood boil?

"What the hell, Alfred? Why didn't you tell me?! You always tell your friends who you're dating!" she said, becoming offended.

"I didn't know how to tell you…but Contan, in order for me to keep dating Katrina…she doesn't want me to talk to you anymore." America said, looking at her sadly.

"So…so that's it huh?" she said, throwing her arms up. "So, you get with Katrina and she asks for you to diss your best friend…and you do it! What the fuck Alfred?! What the fuck?! So what?! I'm no good now?! You'd rather date mother fucking Katrina than be friends with me?! W-well…well I…I just…fuck you AMERICA!" she shouted, no longer calling him by his name. she chucked her ice cream at a tree and stood up sharply.

"Contan, wait!" America said, grabbing her arm.

He held his face with tears in his eyes when she turned around and smacked him.

"You…you were my best friend…I…I hate you America!" she shouted, running away as fast as she could.

She could hear America calling her name from behind her but she didn't care; she couldn't take anything he had to say. She ran and ran and ran until she made it home. She slammed her front door shut, locked it, and rushed to her room. She locked that door too and finally threw herself onto her bed in tears.

She screamed into her pillow and punched the mattress aggressively. She was so pissed right now…so hurt right now…but…but there was something else there. She wasn't just mad about America dissing her. She was…mad about him dating Katrina. But why? Why was she mad about him having a girlfriend? She had been angry with him before he even told her that they wouldn't be seeing each other. Why was she feeling this way…?

She heard her phone ring and glared at it. She waited for the ringing to stop…then the message machine activated.

"Hey dude! You just called Contan's house! I guess I'm not around right now or can't make it to the phone or something; so just leaaave me a message after the annoying beep and I miiiight call you back!" her voice said from the machine before the beep.

"Contan…it's Alfred. Look, I'm really sorry about earlier. I really want to talk to you…can you answer? Contan? Come on; I know you're home! Contan!" he shouted. Finally after a while longer, he gave up and the familiar click of a hang-up could be heard.

Contan felt even worse now…she couldn't believe she told America she HATED him….that wasn't true at all. No matter how upset she was, she should have never said something awful like that.

She needed someone…someone she could trust.

Groaning, she reached over and grabbed the phone, dialing the number mechanically….

"This is the awesome Prussia!" was the first words on the other end of the line after the dialing ended.

"…Gilbert…." Contan breathed.

"Contan? You ok?" he asked.

"No…" she coughed.

"What the hell happened?" he said hurriedly. "Did someone do something to you?" he growled.

Contan didn't answer on the other end.

"I'm coming over." He said bluntly and hung up the phone.

Sure enough…about half an hour later, Prussia came knocking at the door.

Calling Prussia over? For SYMPATHY? Yes it seemed crazy, but quite honestly, Prussia was like a brother to her and he had actually been there for her before. He was a good guy when he wanted to be.

She unlocked the door and looked at him blankly.

"Ok; what the hell happened?" he said pushing his way inside and pulling her over to the couch.

After a good half an hour of explaining the situation, Prussia finally…glared at her?

"What the hell is with that look?!" she snapped.

Then his face changed again….a smirk?!

"I'm pissed and amused." He laughed.

"Mind explaining that?" she growled.

"Yeah sure. Ok, here's the deal. I'm pissed because it took you way too long to realize your feelings…well actually you're a dumbass and you don't realize your feelings which is part of why I'm amused." He chuckled.

"What the fuck are you talking about?" she said angrily.

Rolling his eyes, he became at least somewhat serious and placed a hand on her leg. "You're in love, Contan…you're in love with America." He said.

Contan's eyes widened and she choked on her own breath. She was in love with America? She stared down at her knees and finally tears came to her eyes.

She really was in love with America…that cute little boy she had grown up with was now a handsome man…and she had fallen in love with him without even noticing it.

It was everything about him. His blonde hair with that goofy cowlick in it and those charming, enthusiastic blue eyes…and that smile that lit up her whole world. She had fallen in love with his heart, soul, mind, and body. He was her everything…and she wished that it hadn't taken her this long to realize it.

"I love him…" she said softly, almost to herself.

"So what are you going to do about it?" Prussia asked with a smirk.

"What am I going to do?" she asked.

Prussia laughed. "Come on. Now that you know, you can't do nothing. Talk about unawesome." He said.

She smirked and punched him in his arm. "See you later." She laughed, heading out the door.

She raced towards America's house. She ran as fast as she could; part of her speed due to anxiety and the other part from enthusiasm from now knowing her true feelings.

Reaching his doorstep however, she paused……but finally she managed to knock three times on the door. After a while, she could hear footsteps coming to the door.

Opening the door, America's eyes widened. "Contan…" he said softly.

She smiled weakly; something uncharacteristic of her. "I don't hate you…Alfred." she said, before hugging him tightly.

America didn't hesitate to throw his arms around her in return and pull her up against him as if it would be the last time he would ever hold her. "I missed you. Even though it was less than a day; I missed you!" America said.

"I missed you too…" she breathed into his chest.

Finally pulling away, America led her inside the house and to his couch. There was another awkward silence….

"Alfred…" she said finally.

"Yeah?" he asked looking at her.

He noticed right away just how nervous she looked. "Are you alright?" he asked, brushing a few strands of hair from her face.

She shook her head. "Alfred, I need to tell you something." She said.

"What?" he asked with a smile.

She hesitated. She wanted to tell him…but what would happen?

"You can tell me anything." He said, repeating her words from earlier that day.

She smiled at him and opened her mouth to speak.

"I love you Contan!" he shouted suddenly, causing her to snap her mouth shut.

She stared at America whose entire face lit up in embarrassement. "Ahh….s-sorry! I just wanted to say it! I didn't know what else to do! I broke up with Katrina after you left the park! I totally hate her! She's so mean and self-absorbed and she made me get rid of my favorite jeans! MY FAVORITE JEANS! I've always loved you! I've loved you since we were little kids! I didn't say anything but I totally do. I only dated Katrina because I knew I'd never be good enough for you and—"

"Alfred! Shut up!" she shouted, making him freeze. "Now…let me tell you something." She said, smirking at him.

"What….?" He breathed, tired from his rant.

She maneuvered her body so that she was sitting on his lap, making him blush furiously. She wound her arms around his neck and touched her nose to his. "I'm in love with you too…and I'll never make you get rid of your jeans."

America laughed happily, grabbed her face, and mashed his lips up against hers.

The two sighed into the kiss, enjoying its sweetness, bliss, passion, tenderness, and pure love. The kiss was perfect; more than either of them imagined it being…they never wanted it to end.

America was happy but still…he was distracted during the kiss by the remote control that was gouging into his butt from underneath him. Finally he shifted to move away from it, but in the process, unintentionally ground his crotch up into Contan's, making her gasp.

"A-ah…I'm sorry, Contan! I didn't mean to!" he said quickly.

He was surprised when he saw Contan smirk devilishly. "Horny American…" she said darkly. "Want to try that again?"

America finally returned her expression except with a more child-like twinge to it. "Do you?" he teased.

"Mmm…I love you Alfred….you decide…" she said, pushing her hips against his.

"I love you Contan…" He said. "Mmmm there's apple pie in the fridge you know"

"Is that what you want?" she asked, rolling her eyes, starting to get up.

She made a small yelping sound however, when America aggressively pulled her back down onto his lap. "No thanks…this is better than apple pie…"

She smiled more softly this time with a truly serious and loving expression on her face. "Alfred Jones….I really do love you more than anything…"

Alfred returned her emotions and expression, holding her close. "I love you too Contan…I really do…more than anything…"
